Jon MacLennan teaches a rhythm guitar lesson from the song Change the World by Eric Clapton. Jon starts off by first playing the riff that incorporates non traditional blues chords, including some jazz chords and a lick based in the minor pentatonic scale at tempo so you can hear how it should sound. MacLennan demonstrates the chords used in the progression as follows; E, open 6th string, 2nd fret of the 5th string with 2nd finger, 2nd fret of the 4th string with 3rd finger, first fret of the 3rd string with first finger and open first and 2nd strings, A/E, open 6th string, 4th fret of the 5th string with 3rd finger and first finger bared across the 2nd fret of the 4th, 3rd and 2nd strings and finally E7, 5th fret of the 5th string with 2nd finger, 6th fret of the 4th string with 3rd finger, 4th fret of the 3rd string with first finger and first and 2nd strings open. Eric Clapton is an English guitarist, singer and song writer born in Ripley, Surrey England in 1945. He is considered to be one of the most influential guitarists of all time and was ranked number 2 on Rolling Stones list of the 100 greatest guitarists. He is the only person to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three separate times and has won 17 Grammy awards.

Los Angeles based guitarist Jon MacLennan began his career at the age of 16 and is one of the busiest upcoming session guitarist, artist, composer, producer, and professional educator in LA. Jon has done session work for Julian Lennon, Steven Tyler, and British pop star Jamie Cullum. He has appeared on Disney channels “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody†and on the sound track to the movie “Marley and Me 2 â€" The Puppy Yearsâ€. MacLennan earned a bachelor’s in ethnomusicology and jazz guitar studies from University of California, Los Angeles, and has been mentored by Carl Verheyen, Wolf Marshall, Kenny Burrell, Anthony Wilson, Tamir Hendelmen, Jimmy Wyble and Ron Anthony which has made him a highly sought after guitar instructor today.
