Beauty industry expert creates a beauty blog that goes beyond skin deep.

Carlsbad, California (PRWEB) September 30, 2014

The beauty industry is a fascinating one to outsiders, and can seem somewhat shrouded in complexities. This isn't the case any more; at least when it comes to Beth Whitfield’s new Beauty Blog.

Beth Whitfield is a beauty industry expert, a nationally published hair and makeup artist, being published in beauty and fashion magazines around the country, including Vogue and many others. Beth is also a platform artist and a Premiere National Color Educator and if that wasn’t enough Beth is also the creator and CEO of the Hair Body & Sol family of salons: Hair Body & Sol, Inc. in Vista, California, HBS Revolution, LLC., in Carlsbad California and HBS Serendipity, Inc. in Ketchikan, Alaska.

“I love what I do, every aspect of it. I love creating beauty in any form and believe that there is beauty in everything. Be it in the form of an editorial or fashion photo shoot, on set for a TV show or movie, in being able to create jobs and careers and opportunities for others, there's beauty to be found in it all. I find beauty in the form of education and in creating individualized works of art with each and everyone of my clients and all the clients to frequent any of our Hair Body and Sol salons,” said Beth Whitfield.

Beth’s new Beauty Blog series is set to educate those of us who are not beauty industry experts on the various types of beauty techniques, methods, tips and tricks to make our daily beauty regimens easier and more productive, and to help us maintain our look between our visits to the salon. On top of that Beth will share some educational and insightful beauty industry secrets, alongside current trends and fashion, beauty tips and tricks and many other topics.

Beth told us that she has a goal to provide helpful, informative and entertaining information that will educate interested minds and help her readers find joy in creating beauty, not only with their outwardly appearance but internally as well. A motto she created for Hair Body and Sol is “Awakening your natural beauty from the inside out”, a motto Beth has taken personally.

When asked about why she is taking the time to produce a beauty blog with everything else she has going on in her daily life as an educator, working on photo shoots and handling three salons, and more, Beth replied: "I have such a passion for helping others succeed and in finding their own form of beauty that I do not see what I do daily as a job or a project, it my way of life, it's who I am. I see it simply as another opportunity to share my passions; the passion I have for the beauty industry, as a salon owner, an educator, and an entrepreneur. I have a goal of being mentor and role model to aspiring artists so that they may not have to struggle as I have in order to accomplish their goals. I have worked extremely hard and overcome some major obstacles and barriers to get to where I am today, if I can take my experiences and help someone excel faster and easier than I did, that’s beauty to me.”

Many years ago Beth Whitfield had a vision of creating a salon that all stylists dream of being a part of and clients are proud to call home. It seems as if Beth has done just with all three of her salons having combed her passion for creating beauty with her years of experience in nearly all elements and aspects of the beauty industry to mold a fresh new salon design and brand; a brand replete with California trendy styles and a splash of southern charm. It’s this commitment and passion that makes Hair Body & Sol shine and now with the new Beauty Blog, the future for Beth and the Hair Body and Sol family of salons seems brighter than ever.

You can check out Beth’s Beauty Blog at any of the salon's websites, hbssalon.com, hbsrevolution.com or hbsserendipity.com and Beth’s own website TheBethWhitfield.com.

Announcement: GuitarControl.com releases “Basic Tips for Beginners on How to Use a Guitar Tuner”

(PRWEB) September 21, 2014

In today’s beginner guitar lesson Claude used the clip on style tuner, which he says “is the easiest for the beginner”. Most clip on tuners are small circular or square shaped devices that clip onto the headstock of the instrument, the one that Johnson is using is actually decorated to look like a little green alien. Claude states that many of the clip on tuners available has different modes to accommodate different instruments and that the one he uses a G to indicate that it is in the mode for a guitar. When you pick a string the tuner recognizes the pitch and knows what string you are playing. Then it indicates with the meter on the face of the tuner as to which way you need to tune the string. Claude says that when he is performing live that he will just leave the tuner attached to the guitar so he can check his tuning on the fly. Right now Claude is offering a free tuner like the one he is using in the video for a limited time at GuitarControl.com/tuner.

Clip-on tuners are devices that can clip on to stringed instruments such as the guitar, ukulele, violin and banjo. Most clip-on tuners make use of an internal vibration sensor to measure the vibrations of the instrument instead of using an audio microphone, which helps to ignore background noise, allowing them to be used effectively in noisy environments. The clip-on tuner was invented in 1995 by Mark Wilson of Onboard Research Corporation.

Kirk Cameron previews upcoming film project at Liberty University

Lynchburg, Va. (PRWEB) September 26, 2014

Kirk Cameron visited Liberty University on Friday, Sept. 26, to meet with students of the Cinematic Arts, Zaki Gordon Center and announce his partnership with Liberty for his latest film, “Saving Christmas.”

Last year, Cameron hosted a live broadcast from Liberty’s Vines Center as more than 150,000 people in 700 theaters nationwide watched Cameron’s “Unstoppable.”

“I loved it,” Cameron said of the event. “I loved being able to unwrap ‘Unstoppable’ and help students further understand some of the more difficult things about God in a cool, creative way that they helped to make successful. And we’re going to be doing that again with ‘Saving Christmas.’”

During Friday morning’s Convocation, Cameron introduced his upcoming project, showing clips from the movie and the trailer. The family-friendly film set to premiere Nov. 14 in 400 theaters across the country for a limited two-week engagement, seeks to help viewers reunite the sacred and secular elements of Christmas. “Saving Christmas” tells a story that gives the audience a biblical basis for Christmas celebrations, and the inspiration to stand strongly as the culture looks to trivialize and eliminate the faith elements of this holy season.

“Our richest Christmas traditions … are so full of truth, if only we had eyes to see them,” Cameron said. “We need to infuse old symbols with new meaning.”

Referencing Lecrae Moore’s visit to Convocation last year, when Moore warned students to avoid seeing the world through bifocals that separate Christianity from the rest of culture, Cameron encouraged students to think differently about holiday consumerism. Instead, he said, students should embrace all aspects of the Christmas season in order to show that Christ is worth celebrating.

“Remember, this is the celebration of the eternal God taking on a material body,” Cameron said. “So it is right our holiday is marked with material things. Things we can see with our eyes, touch with our hands, and look upon.”

After Convocation, Cameron gathered with film students for an exclusive Q-and-A session about how to honor God through Hollywood filmmaking. During the session, Cameron offered advice to aspiring filmmakers from his years of experience as an actor and producer.

Cameron said he enjoys being able to interact with the students and that it is a natural fit for him to partner with Liberty on his projects.

“I really feel that Liberty University and I have the same goals, and that is to train Christians in this generation to be excellent, to be champions,” he said. “Not to be escapists, not to be complainers, but to be leaders. And Liberty isn’t just talking about it, they are doing it ... So that’s why I am excited and proud to be partnering with Liberty University in a field that lines up with my experience: making movies.”

He added that the campus never ceases to impress him and that the atmosphere is especially inviting. Cameron explained that students are exposed to “world-class” learning opportunities, worship, spiritual renewal, and guest speakers â€" the sort of things he hopes his children will get when they go to college.

About Liberty University

Town’s Werewolf Legend Comes to Life in New Book by Mari Hamill

Dog Ear Publishing releases "Werewolf Nights" by Mari Hamill.

VENICE, Calif. â€"

(PRWEB) September 29, 2014 -- It’s not easy living in a small town where everyone knows your high school sweetheart disappeared and your husband died in a boating accident. That’s what Catherine Mercy, star of this new novel, faces every time she goes on a date. But the small-town bakery owner is drawn to Greg Byron, a sexy movie star in town to film the story of Wereville’s werewolf legend, and gets closer to him when she’s cast to replace the female lead who vanishes. Fate steps in, however, and the legend becomes more than just a story.

Although Catherine had just about given up on love, Greg makes his way into her heart, despite some deception when they first meet. Just when the two realize their feelings, a wolf bites Greg. Suddenly Greg, Catherine and friend Steve, a werewolf legend buff, must figure out if the town’s legend is real. Should that be the case, Greg will turn into a werewolf when the moon becomes full, and someone’s destined to die. Catherine must decide if she has the courage to help Greg once and for all, even if it ruins her last chance for true love. In “Werewolf Nights,” author Mari Hamill blends fantasy, intrigue and passion to create a chilling, unique story.

This is the first novel for Hamill, who has an English degree from Harvard, a comparative literature degree from the Sorbonne Nouvelle and a Ph.D. in comparative literature from the University of Michigan. Can Busking Under A Tunnel Change Your Identity? TEDx Speaker, Award Winning Author And Nametag Expert Scott Ginsberg Premieres A Concert Documentary That Sticks.

What happens inside the tunnel of love? Kids biking. Families picnicking. Tourists dancing. Friends singing. Couples dancing. Family clapping. Babies crying. Teenagers yelling. Police patrolling. Bird

Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) September 30, 2014

Scott Ginsberg made a name for himself wearing a nametag twenty-four seven. He built a brand, a business and a career as an author, professional speaker and business strategist. But after fifteen years, he decided to branch out into an entirely new medium of creative expression.

“I’ll never forget the first time I strolled through the tunnel under the historic Meadowport Arch in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The aesthetics were inspiring, the architecture was stunning and the acoustics were shattering. There was no way I wasn’t coming back with my guitar. And after a few months of busking, there was no way I wasn’t coming back with a production crew.”

WHEN IN DOUBT, HIRE YOURSELF
Ginsberg wasn’t waiting around for somebody to greenlight his creativity. He didn’t have to ask permission to innovate. He simply took advantage of the invaluable production value and decided to make a documentary about the transformative power of performing in the tunnel.

Tunnel of Love: Songs, Stories, Sermons & Scenes, is a feature length concert documentary written, produced, directed and scored by Scott Ginsberg. The film explores the intersection of identity, belonging and creativity.

The movie takes a look at the transformative power of live music, both on the audience and the performer. It pays homage the sonic potential of natural acoustics. And it’s a playful narrative about two young lovers in the process of changing their pronouns.

Through live performances, playful and romantic exchanges, unexpected creative moments of conception and behind the scenes storytelling, Ginsberg’s film takes you on a heartfelt journey about what it means to be an artist, a romantic and an opportunist.

DON'T BE STOPPED BY NOT KNOWING HOW
Scott, however, had zero experience writing, producing, directing, scoring and funding an independent film. But that didn’t stop him. Because if there’s one thing he does have experience with, it’s undertaking creative projects in which he has no idea what they hell he’s doing.

Scott partnered with Emmett Williams of Mission Man Media, an award winning artist, internationally known musician and nationally exhibited photographer. He served as director of photographer, editor and overall production manager. Scott used Elance to find local audio technician, Jared Alder, to engineer the sound for the film and produce original motion picture soundtrack, which was released as a stand alone album.

“Tunnel of Love was definitely the most interesting location at which I’ve ever recorded a concert. I’m so used to minimizing ambient sound while recording, so it was a nice change to incorporate audience applause, pedestrians on foot, police sirens and bicycle bells. This naturalistic approach truly captured the sonic experience of the event.”

ADOPT THE DIRECT TO CONSUMER CHANNEL
Tunnel of Love will be initially presented as a serialized, episodic documentary. Since the movie’s centerpiece is a live concert, Scott is premiering each song as a stand alone chapter on his website and social channels. There are 14 songs in the concert, so the distribution timeline will occur over a period of 14 weeks, from September to December. Every Monday, fans will get a new song emailed to their inbox. And by the end of the year, the entire movie will become available online for free, forever.

Ginsberg, who writes books and conducts seminars about the digital revolution, says the direct to consumer era and the infinite shelf space of the internet have changed everything for creators and entrepreneurs. When it came time to decide on a distribution strategy for his documentary, there was never really a question:

“Of course I was going to give the entire movie away. Of course I was going to stream the whole thing on my website for free. Of course I was going to adopt the direct to consumer channel. Anything that’s a barrier to getting my work in people’s hands is a problem. Most of the world’s independent documentaries that premiere each year never even see the light of day anyway, much less secure theatrical distribution or achieve commercial success, so I see no reason to exhaust and expense myself in the process. Middleman, schmiddleman.”

But the film isn’t a complete vanity project, Scott laughs. The documentary homepage also offers discussion guides and curricula for educators, learning institutions, companies, congregations and other organizations to help spread the messages of identity, belonging and creativity.

“I wanted Tunnel of Love to be more than just a movie, but also a platform for education and connection. Because strategically, I’m always searching for new ways to deliver my unique value to society. So I trust that the offering of these educational materials,
free of charge, will lead to some exciting new opportunities.”

QUOTES FROM FILMMAKER SCOTT GINSBERG

“The only artistic goal worth pursuing is freedom, and that everything else flows from there.”

“Put whimsy on wheels. Give yourself permission to follow ridiculous ideas to fruition.”

“Generosity is the tax you pay for talent. If you’ve been given a gift, you have an obligation to share it. To regift it so it brings joy to others. Anything less is an act of ingratitude.”

“Every interaction is a relationship. Regardless of how long it lasts, you’re still relating to the other person. Belonging is about learning to find joy from whatever people have to offer.”

We can send you the screener link if you wish to preview the entire 82-minute documentary in advance. Photography and additional information are also available at the website and upon request.

ABOUT SCOTT GINSBERG, WRITER, PRODUCER, DIRECTOR

What happens when you wear a nametag twenty-four seven? Even to bed? Just ask Scott Ginsberg. In the beginning, it was just a gimmick to make friends. But soon, his crazy idea didn’t seem so crazy. In the past fifteen years, Scott’s social experiment has evolved into an urban legend, world record, cultural phenomenon and a profitable enterprise. Simply google the word nametag, and you’ll see his work benchmarked as a case study on human interaction, revolutionizing the way people look at approachability, identity and creativity.

Since 1999, Scott has authored 30 books, released six albums on his own record label, published an award winning blog, given a TEDx talk and delivered presentations and corporate training programs worldwide. He’s the only person in the world who wears a nametag 24-7. Even to bed. He was also inducted into Ripley’s Believe It Or Not as the world record holder of wearing nametags. Tunnel of Love is his first movie.

Global Vacation Ventures Shares Information on the Top Ways to Save Money for a Fall Vacation

Global Vacation Ventures markets and sells Concierge Rewards International

West Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) September 26, 2014

Global Vacation Ventures knows that saving up for a big vacation is no easy task. For big families especially, every penny counts and it can be difficult to set aside the money to save up for a vacation. To help these families out, the following tips are designed to assist families in saving for their dream vacation.

1. Use a change jar.
One of the easiest methods to start saving up for vacation is by utilizing the traditional change jar. Global Vacation Ventures reminds travelers that a jar of change can completely cover a tank of gas for a moderately-sized car, or even a nice lunch on the road. By emptying out pockets at the end of each day, vacation-planners can visually track their progress as their vacation approaches. Kids will enjoy participating by adding any change they fine lying around to the family vacation jar.

2. Involve the family in saving for a vacation.
Sometimes, to afford a family vacation the parents require the help of the entire family. Global Vacation Ventures points out that parents should be upfront with their children during the months leading up to a vacation as to why they are saving money and not buying fast food or junk food in order to help save money. Unnecessary expenditures like ice cream after baseball practice, or renting games or movies, should be eliminated to make every dollar count.

3. Save money every day.
Global Vacation Ventures also suggests that parents take a look at their regular habits and consider how they can reduce spending even further. Liberty Coach Selects New ?Coach of the Week? as 2015 Inventory Sales Pick up the Pace

Liberty Coach Selects New “Coach of the Week” as 2015 Inventory Sales Pick up the Pace

Liberty Coach #775

North Chicago, IL and Stuart, FL (PRWEB) September 18, 2014

The arrival of fall may mean cooler temperatures throughout most of the country, but things are just starting to heat up here at the Liberty Coach dealership in Stuart, Florida.

During the past week, the company finalized sales of two Elegant Lady “Ravello” coaches, a triple slide floor plan that is undeniably one of the showpieces of Liberty’s 2015 lineup. Sale of a third Ravello is pending from the previous week, making the start of the fall selling season one of the best in Liberty Coach history.

The rush coincided with the launch of Liberty’s new “Coach of the Week” marketing effort, which was conceived to showcase the longtime industry leader’s inventory of new Prevost conversion motorcoaches. The first featured coach, Ravello Edition No. 779, was one of the three that sold.

Now the spotlight turns to LC Stock No. 775, the “Fairfield Edition.” Liberty’s new Coach of the Week boasts an exceptionally spacious double slide floor plan built- on the industry-leading Prevost H3-45 bus platform. Among the plan’s many unique design features is its “over-the-road” air, two cruise air and two roof air A/C units, a first in the industry. This unique configuration also creates space for the largest shower stall ever installed in a Prevost conversion. The configuration also facilitates an unusual amount of storage space in two enormous pass-through lower bays, one of which includes a 60-inch LED/LCD flat screen TV and Marantz 110 volt stereo as well as a larger refrigerator and oversize storage drawers.

Of course, the Fairfield is filled with the top-of-the-line furnishings, fixtures and equipment for which Liberty Coach is so well known. Kitchen galley appliances include a Kenyon cooktop, Miele convection oven and microwave, SubZero refrigerator with freezer drawer system, Fisher Paykel dishwasher and a Bosch stacked washer and dryer set. The fully integrated HDMI audio/video system includes a custom-designed KEF speaker system, two independent Winegard in-motion HD satellite TV dishes, and two Blu-Ray players for viewing throughout the coach. And every component of every system can be controlled via iPad or iPhone with Liberty’s exclusive Crestron remote control system.

Like all Liberty Coaches, the Ravello is a true work of art inside and out. The exterior finish is an original work conceived and hand-crafted by master automotive painter Dean Loucks and his “Art of Design” workshop, while the interior is the personal creation of Kim Konigseder, Liberty’s very own award-winning interior designer.

The Fairfield is currently on display at Liberty Coach of Florida in Stuart, which is located just south of Port St. Lucie on the Atlantic Coast. Prospective buyers are welcome to schedule a private showing in advance of their visit, and may do so via phone or email. Visit http://www.libertycoach.com/contact-us to find out more.

Yamaha Releases MG REC & PLAY iPhone/iPad App for MG Series Mixers

Yamaha Releases MG REC & PLAY iPhone/iPad App for MG Series Mixers

Yamaha Releases MG REC & PLAY iPhone/iPad App for MG Series Mixers

Buena Park, CA (PRWEB) September 18, 2014

Yamaha today introduced the MG REC & PLAY iPhone/iPad app that allows MG Series XU Mixers to provide high quality recording and playback via an attractive, easy-to-use interface. It is now available at the Apple App Store for free download.

The MG Series is a comprehensive lineup of mixing consoles ranging from compact models ideal for music production and sub-mixing applications to more versatile models capable of handling live sound reinforcement for medium scale events. The third-generation MG Series released earlier this year offers notable improvements in sound quality, design, operability and durability, as well as several impressive new functions.

The new MG REC & PLAY app enables high-quality recording, as well as fast and easy playback of songs and sound effects, by simply connecting an iPhone/iPad to any MG Series XU model via an Apple Camera Connection Kit or Lightning to USB Adapter. This intuitive application can be used for a wide range of purposes, including recording songwriting sessions, band rehearsals and live gigs, or providing background music or sound effects for parties, live concerts and other entertainment events.

The audio recorder function lets users record two tracks from the stereo bus on the MG Series XU models in high-quality WAV format. The sampling rate ranges from 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz and 96 kHz depending on the requirements. A simple, user-friendly interface allows for visual monitoring of the recording settings and status. It also provides users with instantaneous playback of recently recorded material, which is particularly useful for sound sketching or song composition.

The audio player function features nine separate banks with eight tiles that can each be assigned up to eight songs or sound effects from an iPhone/iPad music library. This provides users with high quality playback of up to 72 songs and sound effects by simply touching the assigned tile image of each corresponding audio file. The instantaneous playback afforded by MG REC & PLAY lends valuable flexibility to live performance applications requiring background music, triggered backing tracks and musical accompaniment, along with other situations that require the use of sound effects.

“The MG REC & PLAY app is a practical, user-friendly tool that adds flexibility to the MG XU consoles and lets them make the most of their mixing experience,” said Nithin Cherian, marketing manager, Live Sound, Yamaha Corporation of America.

Nearly 20 cities across America will offer a public screening of American Made Movie as part of their celebration of Manufacturing Day 2014. These screenings have been arranged by manufacturers, chambers of commerce, community colleges and MEP centers in the various cities.

“The focus of Manufacturing Day is about bringing attention to manufacturing and its contributions to our economy as well as dispelling the myths that exist about the sector among people who do not have first-hand knowledge”, said Christopher Harvey, producer on American Made Movie, the official movie partner of Manufacturing Day. “We are excited about the movie’s ability to have a positive impact on the next generation of Americans and look forward to continued partnership with these and other hosts moving forward. Our movie engages viewers in a dramatic and compelling way and we are pleased to see the way hosts are using the movie as a way to bridge manufacturing and education. We are hoping the showings will engage everyone in the participating communities from manufacturing employers and workers, to legislators, educational facilities, reporters and even consumers as being a part of the solution. By understanding where and how products are made in the United S tates, and supporting American manufacturers, individuals have contributed to a resurgence of American manufacturing. iPhone 6 Teardown Repair Video by Phone Doctors

iPhone 6 Teardown Video

Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) September 29, 2014

With the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus release just days in the past, the professionals at Phone Doctors took a crack at the device, opening it up and taking a look inside. The comprehensive teardown video, one of the first of its kind, gives consumers an in-depth look at what makes their new Apple iPhone 6 tick, and gives repair personnel an inside look at what they will eventually be fixing.

While the iPhone 6 teardown is the newest video released by Phone Doctors, it is not the first they have done. In recent years, the company has focused on creating videos that educate and inform the public. Teardown and repair videos are now a regular part of the company's web presence. Phone Doctors® parts and ScrewMat® branded tool sets are also made available to both do-it-yourself and professional repair technicians at PhoneDoctors.com.

"The goal of doing these videos is to educate and inform consumers about the phones they use. If you know how to repair a device, then it will have a longer life and be more useful to you. We also have a lot of fun taking these devices apart, putting them back together, and filming the whole process." said Tony Baker, Marketing Consultant at Phone Doctors.

The iPhone 6 teardown video has been on Youtube for just a few days, but has amassed thousands of hits already. Previous videos have seen similar success. "We really enjoy making the videos, and not just teardowns either. Drop test videos have been a lot of fun, too. We are just looking for a way to connect with people, and have some fun in the process. If people get some information out of it, that's great. If they just enjoy the videos, that's great, too!" Said Baker.

Yamaha Keyboard Division Holds Seminar Focusing on Institutional Sales For Key Dealers Nationwide

Yamaha Keyboard Division Holds Seminar Focusing on Institutional Sales For Key Dealers Nationwide

Yamaha Keyboard Division Holds Seminar Focusing on Institutional Sales For Key Dealers Nationwide

Hitoshi Fukutome, president, Yamaha Corporation of America

BUENA PARK, Calif. (PRWEB) September 23, 2014

Yamaha Corporation of America hosted its annual Home Office Seminar in August, with this year’s training summit for members of Yamaha’s national dealer network focused on institutional sales.

The gathering included principals and sales professionals from Yamaha’s dealer network, as well as executives from Yamaha’s Keyboard Division management team. Several guest speakers from the academic community were featured, including representatives of some of the leading music colleges in the nation. The four-day seminar specifically focused on strategies for Yamaha dealers, fostering sincere and respectful relationships with universities, colleges and conservatories, and founded on the principals of long-term service and support. Bob Heller, national sales director for Yamaha’s Keyboard Division, said this year’s Home Office Seminar, held at the company’s headquarters in Buena Park, California was hailed as a tremendous success by both participating Yamaha managers and the company’s retail partners.

“The main goal of this seminar, our third in the Home Office series, was to highlight the complexities of institutional sales,” Heller explained. “Selling world class musical instruments to an institution is a more complicated process than everyday retail sales, so we brought together experts in that process to meet with key individuals from our national dealer network. The seminar itself and its value to those who participated couldn’t have been better.”

In addition to Heller and other executives from Yamaha’s Institutional Solutions Group, speakers included Tom Bracy, executive director of the Merit School of Music; Linda Roush, director of Major Gifts at Millersville University; and Dr. William Stowman, professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Music at Messiah College.

“Each of the speakers brought their own expertise and experiences to their informative presentations, but the recurring theme was that a successful sales process for both the institution and the dealer relies upon a strong, ongoing relationship,” Heller said. “Yamaha has always taken a long-term approach to our dealer relationships, and forging the same kind of long-term relationship between an institution and a dealer is vital to the sales process.”

Hitoshi Fukutome, president of Yamaha Corporation of America amplified that theme: “My thoughts on the matter are similar, but I also believe that the most important relationships don’t start with the schools, but rather with Yamaha Corporation of America and the company’s valued dealers.”

Retail professionals who attended the training summit agreed. Gordon Martin, general manager of the Piano Division for Menchey Music Service, Inc. in Pennsylvania, said that this year’s seminar offered a great synergy between collegiate educators, Yamaha staff and Yamaha retail dealers. “We spent several days learning strategies for cultivating relationships with educators and institutions, understanding what the primary needs and interests of the educators are, and discovering how to inculcate these institutional relationships into an ongoing process,” Martin explained. “It’s encouraging to see the momentum that continues to build toward Yamaha dealers not just being interested in getting a sale, but in contributing long-term toward the educational community in significant ways.”

Carol Wu of Roger’s Piano, a new Yamaha dealer based in Natick, Mass., said the seminar will go a long way in meeting the needs of institutional customers, a sales and marketing segment Roger’s Piano is actively seeking to expand.

“Every topic covered at the seminar was relevant and important. Not only did I learn more about the pianos we sell and support, I gained new appreciation for Yamaha's dedication to education,” said Wu, adding that meeting directly with fellow dealers and Yamaha managers and being able to tap into their experience was an invaluable aspect of the seminar. “It reaffirmed why we at Roger's Piano are in this business: to create more music makers.”

Darren Spier, an owner of Metroplex Piano serving the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas, also viewed the seminar as a success in helping dealers and the music schools and other institutions they serve navigate the sophisticated, often multi-layered sales process.

“These seminars are very collaborative in nature, and the exchange of ideas, best practices and tools to meet the music needs of institutions we as dealers work with will enable us to improve scope and quality of our business,” Spier said.

The seminar also featured performances by two gifted musicians and Yamaha Artistsâ€"renowned composer and jazz pianist Billy Childs, and critically acclaimed pianist and music educator Inna Faliks.

Faliks also spoke about how she used Yamaha’s RemoteLive™, Remote Lesson and other groundbreaking long-distance music education tools available via Disklavier reproducing pianos to teach students in California while she was living in New York. “Inna not only gave a wonderful performance, but also explained in a very personal, practical way how she used the remarkable remote music education abilities of the Disklavier during her presentation,” Heller said.

Yamaha’s first Home Office Seminar focused on sales and marketing, and last year’s centered on the theme of executive management. Heller said Yamaha views the yearly seminars as an investment in the people who make up its dealer network, which he called the backbone of Yamaha’s success today and in the future. “Unlike some of our competitors, we do not have a policy of direct sales to schools,” Heller notes. “Instead, we rely heavily on our dealer network, so we feel it is in our mutual interest to collaborate and share knowledge. We always come away from these training events with more than when we went in.”
