Focus Camera Proudly Participating in the ‘Go Gold for Kids With Cancer’ Program

Focus Camera, a leading, nationwide yet family-owned photography equipment retailer, is proud to announce that the company will participate in the American Childhood Cancer Organization’s campaign “Go Gold for Kids with Cancer†program to benefit young people with cancer.
The ‘Go Gold for Kids with Cancer’ program is a way that schools and organizations can join in the fight to defeat childhood cancer, and to give hope to young people who most need it. By organizing a ‘Go Gold’ fundraising event in our areas, we all can raise awareness and funds for children fighting cancer.
What We Are Doing
Focus Camera has collected gold handprints and handmade gold gibbons from local schools in Brooklyn. Our goal is to donate as many handprints and ribbons as possible, and anyone who has children can help. Focus Camera will donate $ 5 for every child who participates.
How to Help
Just have a child create a handprint project with gold paint on white paper or create and decorate a gold ribbon. Please make sure they include their first name and age on the project, and bring it to Focus Camera’s offices in Brooklyn NY before the end of September 2014. Our address is: 895 McDonald Ave Brooklyn, New York 11218. We will post these papers on walls in our offices as proud supporters of “Go Gold For Kids with Cancer.â€

Gold Ribbon Background
In 1997, a group of parents came up with a universal awareness symbol for children with cancer: a gold ribbon. This is an easily-recognizable symbol to unite under, if people know what it means. Sadly, when asked, most people would not be able to identify the gold ribbon as a symbol for childhood cancer awareness. The ‘Go Gold for Kids with Cancer’ program is designed to raise awareness and research funds for children with cancer, and Focus Camera is proud to participate.
