Claude says that there are seven basic chords that ever guitarist should know. Claude demonstrates these seven chords as follows; chord number one is Em (E minor) which consists of 6th string open, 2nd fret of the 5th string with 2nd finger, 2nd fret of the 4th string with 3rd finger and the rest of the strings open. The 2nd chord is E which consists of the playing Em and adding first finger to the first fret of the 3rd string. Chord number three is C and consists of the 3rd finger 3rd fret of the 5th string, 2nd finger 2nd fret of the 4th string, 3rd string open, first finger on the first fret of the 2nd string and first string open. The fourth chord is D which consists of the 4th string open, 2nd fret of the 3rd string with first finger, 3rd fret of the 2nd string with 3rd finger and 2nd fret of the first string with 2nd finger. Chord number five is G which consists of the 2nd finger on the 3rd fr et of the 6th string, first finger on the 2nd fret of the 5th string, 4th, 3rd and 2nd strings open and 3rd fret of the first string with 3rd finger. The sixth chord is Am (A minor) which consists of the open 5th string, 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the 4th string, 3rd finger 2nd fret of the 3rd string first finger on the first fret of the 2nd string and open first string. And finally the 7th chord is A, which consists of open 5th string and baring your first finger across the 2nd fret of the 4th, 3rd and 2nd strings and open first string. Claude adds two more chords to this list as follows; E7, which is simply E major with the 3rd finger, removed making the 4th string open and Cadd9 which is simply played by playing a G major chord and moving the first and second fingers up one string each.
