Claude demonstrates a blues lick based in the minor pentatonic scale that incorporates chromatism in the key of B in this easy guitar lesson video. Johnson performs this in the first position of the pentatonic scale as follows; 9th fret of the 4th string with 3rd finger and then chromatically on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th frets of the 3rd string with first, 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers and then to the 9th fret of the 2nd string with first finger and then finally Claude descends the entire sequence and then finishes off the lick by sliding from the 8th to the 9th fret of the 3rd string with 2nd finger and then ending on the 9th fret of the 4th string with 3rd finger. The entire sequence is based out of the first position of the minor pentatonic scale and the four half step sequence on the 3rd string is the chromatic movement. The Chromatic Scale is a scale that uses 12 pitches each of which are one semitone above or below one another. Each semitone is the same size, 100 cents, and is equally spaced from one another.
The Pentatonic Scale is a musical scale with five notes per octave. They can be found all over the world and are the main scale used in the Blues genre.
