Denver Comic Con Announces Guests, Ticket Sales
Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 09, 2014
Denver Comic Con and Literary Conference (DCC) today announced tickets for the May 23-25, 2014 convention will go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 17th at 12:00 p.m. MDT. DCC also announced two major guests: Nichelle Nichols, who played Lieutenant Uhura from the 1966 âStar Trekâ series, and Lindsay Wagner, who played Jamie Sommers from âThe Bionic Woman.â DCC is a program of Pop Culture Classroom (formerly Comic Book Classroom), a Denver nonprofit helping engage kids in education through pop culture.
âThis year DCC is on Memorial Day weekend, so it will be here before we know it,â said Christina Angel, DCC director. âNot only are we planning for another year of fantastic guestsâ"including Nichelle Nichols and Lindsay Wagnerâ"but DCC will once again feature more than 300 hours of educational and engaging panel programming.â
When Nichols was cast by Gene Roddenberry to create Chief Communications Officer Lt. Uhura, fourth in command of the Starship Enterprise, in his legendary TV series Star Trek, it moved Dr. Martin Luther King to note that the character was âthe first non-stereotypical role portrayed by a black woman in television history.â Nichelle subsequently co-starred in six blockbuster Star Trek motion pictures as well as many other prominent roles in film and television.
Lindsay Wagner first came to prominence as a result of her iconic portrayal of Jaime Sommers in her Emmy award-winning role as âThe Bionic Woman.â More recently Wagner has appeared in notable science fiction television series such as âWarehouse 13â and âAlphas.â Off-screen Wagner is passionate about the awakening of human potential and is a published author, having co-authored âThe High Road to Health,â a best-selling vegetarian lifestyle cookbook and âLindsay Wagner's New Beauty: The Acupressure Facelift.â
âDenver Comic Con has always had a deep commitment to diversity, and these guests highlight the impact women and minorities have on our pop culture landscape,â said Bruce MacIntosh, DCC head of programming and Pop Culture Classroom chairman. âWeâre honored to launch our guest announcements and ticket sales with these pop culture icons.â
2015 ticket prices are as follows and can be purchased at DenverComicCon.com beginning October 14th at 12:00 p.m. MDT.
