Announcement: GuitarControl.com releases âLearn to Play Cool Speed Picking Exercises on Guitar - Lead Guitar Lesson on Alternate Pickingâ
(PRWEB) November 14, 2014
âToday I want to talk about speed picking,â says Johnson, âwhich is basically alternate picking, but fast.â Claude explains alternate picking as picking down and up without doing to up strokes or down strokes in a row. Claude performs this exercise with a metronome and by fretting the 5th fret of the 3rd string with his first finger and picking one measure of ¼ notes (1 2 3 4). Next he moves up one half step to the 6th fret and plays one measure of 1/8 notes (1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &). And finally Johnson moves up another half step to the 7th fret and plays one measure of 1/16th notes (1 E & A 2 E & A 3 E & A 4 E & A). Claude continues by repeating the entire sequence and increasing the tempo on the metronome each time. The major scale, aka the Ionian Mode, is a seven tone diatonic scale that is widely used in western music. The eighth duplicates the first at double its frequency so that it is called a higher octave of the same note, which its name is derived from Latin "octavus", the eighth.
A Pentatonic Scale is a musical scale with five notes per octave and is very common and found all over the world.
