The major motion picture release “Interstellar” from Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures, directed by Christopher Nolan (“Inception”, “Dark Knight Trilogy”), has been recognized with the Truly Moving Picture Award by nonprofit arts organization Heartland Film. Select theatrically-released titlesâ€"entertaining films that do much more than just entertainâ€"are honored with the designation throughout the year. Submissions are received directly from studios and producers for consideration.

“’Interstellar’ is both a breathtaking cinematic accomplishment and an insightful examination of humankind’s most primal fears and joys,” says Tim Irwin, Heartland Film’s artistic director. “It is simultaneously powerful in a visceral and emotional way.”

“Interstellar” stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow and Michael Caine. With our time on Earth coming to an end, a team of explorers undertakes the most important mission in human history; traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars. The film opened with advance screenings in IMAX® 70mm film, 70mm film and 35mm film formats on Wednesday, Nov. 5, followed by a nationwide release on Nov. 7.
