The number of family caregivers has tripled since 1994 â" an estimated 65.7 million Americans have served as unpaid family caregivers. A typical caregiver loses $ 303,880 in salary, Social Security and pension due to taking time off for caregiving. With Americaâs rapidly growing aging population, this number will continue to climb each year.
