(PRWEB UK) 11 November 2014

When Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories were first published in the Strand magazine they were illustrated by stunning pictures by Sidney Paget. The pictures were dark and quite scary for children. A Spanish illustrator, James Macaluso, has intricately recreated each of the scenes, including the iconic 221b Baker Street with Lego figures to make them more appropriate for children. There are six adventures with the new illustrations and they are proving a big hit with kids â€" and their parents.

Steve Emecz from MX Publishing who are releasing the stories comments “There has never been a better time to be a Sherlock Holmes fan with BBC Sherlock and CBS Elementary on TV. James’s illustrations are a wonderful way to introduce children to the original stories”.

Roger Johnson from The Sherlock Holmes Society of London says that the photos, inspired by Paget’s illustrations and the Granada TV series are "Different, clever and rather charming.”.

LEGO is going through a similarly prolific resurgence at the moment with the LEGO movie recently released on DVD and a huge success at the cinema. According to IMDB off a budget of $ 60m the movie took $ 69m in its first weekend and has taken over $ 250m at the box office. Great business for Warner Brothers who are also behind the Sherlock Holmes movies â€" there’s already talk of a sequel.

The books are available from all good bookstores with book five â€" ‘The Five Orange Pips’ out this week.
