Comedy Event in Hollywood, CA on December 5th to benefit the Spondylitis Association of America
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 28, 2014
When Mick Mars, Guitarist for Motley Crue, is struck with a crippling bone disease, people take notice, right?
Sadly, no!
Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is a disease that has gone mostly unnoticed, even though it affects more people than rheumatoid arthritis. Due to difficulties in diagnosis (often delaying treatment for 7-10 years after onset of symptoms) and a distressing lack of awareness among the general public and the medical community, AS and its related diseases severely impact quality of life for men and women in their prime.
But unlike rheumatoid arthritis and other better known conditions, there is a distressing shortage of funding for the medical and scientific research into the causes and the cure for this crippling disease.
Brooke Forbes, a comedian with an enthusiastic cult following in Los Angeles, is eager to change that. Her brother was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis in his early 20s and now she is turning her comedic skills to funding the research that change the landscape of AS in the United States.
Along with her partners, Monique Reymond, Comedy Collective Foundation, and David Svengalis, Mahoobla Productions, Brooke has created an evening where female comics will raise money and awareness on behalf of the only nonprofit in the US dedicating all of its resources to changing the future of this little known form of spinal arthritis.
They're calling it, "Broads for Bones...with the Biggest D&*k in Hollywood."
The show features a brilliant cast of LA's funniest women with their own motley crew of top tier comedians, producers, directors and writers from some of TV's hottest shows. They're even allowing a few of LAâs iconic bad boys, like Ron Jeremy, to join in on this hilarious event FOR A GREAT CAUSE.
Tickets are now on sale at Brown Paper Tickets for the Dec. 5 show. http://www.broadsforbones.brownpapertickets.com

About Ankylosing Spondylitis
Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a crippling form of spondyloarthritis that generally strikes young people in their teens and twenties, sometimes even earlier. Left untreated, it causes pain, disability and can eventually cause the spinal vertebrae to fuse together forming one brittle bone, often in a stooped over position. The most common symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis are pain and stiffness. More rarely, because AS is a systemic (whole body) condition, other organs such as the heart and lungs can also become involved.
About the Spondylitis Association of America
Established in 1983, The Spondylitis Association of America (SAA) is the only nonprofit organization in the US dedicating all of its resources to improving the lives of people with spondyloarthritis. SAA is committed to advancing medical research into the causes of this often overlooked and critically underfunded family of diseases with the aim of facilitating earlier diagnoses, developing more effective treatments and effecting more positive disease outcomes. The organizationâs mission is to be a leader in the quest to cure AS and related diseases, and to empower those affected to live life to the fullest.
