America's Animal Astronaut Heroes

Cape Canaveral, Florida (PRWEB) December 05, 2014

Using historic footage, entertaining animations and expert interviews, “America's Animal Astronaut Heroes” explains these brave explorers’ key contributions to human spaceflight in a way easily understood by children and adults. Hosted by Billy Specht, former education director of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and the Miami Seaquarium, the program is both enjoyable and educational.

"We've had all good reviews so far,” says the film’s writer and producer, Jim Lewis. “Just today, we were notified that the National Science Teachers Association endorses the video. This is the second documentary we've produced that the science teachers have endorsed, so I'm very happy about that."

In its recommendation, the National Science Teachers Association says: “You and your students will learn a lot and have interesting discussions on the topics of animals and humans in space.”

Booklist calls the documentary “informative and entertaining,” and Dr. David Livingston, host of “The Space Show,” says: "This is a must-see documentary, not only for space enthusiasts, but also for anyone interested in history and in search of the perfect family viewing and discussion experience."

"Jim Lewis has had this passion for space, for anything having to do with creating TV shows, movies, documentaries,” says Space Coast Film Commissioner Bonnie King. “To see his passion come to fruition for something like this has just been fun, and to see it on the screen, all put together, was just great. . . . I'm excited about the opportunities it'll have for kids and the future of space”

The documentary was shot on location at the Brevard Zoo, Kennedy Space Center, Johnson Space Center, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and other historic locations.’

“America’s Animal Astronaut Heroes” is written and produced by Jim Lewis and his production company Communications Concepts, Inc. (CCI). This is the same production team that successfully produced “ONE GIANT LEAP: 50 Years of the American Space Program.”

The DVD (76 minutes, English, color, widescreen) retails for $ 19.99 and can be purchased online at http://www.cciflorida.com/Shop/
