Retail is Detail â€" Top Managers Focus on Key Metrics

Boston, MA (PRWEB) December 09, 2014

The National Retail Federation reported in their Thanksgiving Weekend Spending Survey, conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics, that 86.9 million shoppers were hitting the stores or the Internet on Black Friday. This holiday rush is critical for brands and retailers to meet end of year numbers and goals, so Mobee took a week to see how the major players were doing.

“Ways In-Store Data Can Help Retailers & Brands During the Holidays” are two reports by Mobee that provide information on popular retailers and brands before, during, and after Black Friday. It also includes tips for how store operators and brand managers can collect better data to understand trends, improve operations, and plan for the future.

What are shoppers looking for?
Mobee’s Holiday Store Tracker Missions* reported that electronics (35%), video games and consoles (24%), and household appliances (13%) are what shoppers are putting on their wish list this year. Fashion, clothing, and accessories (12%) were not far behind.

How do retailers & brands prepare for the holidays?
Retailers operate with all hands on deck during the holidays to ensure that customers can find what they’re looking for and then purchase items with ease. Frustrations arise when lines are long, stores are unorganized, or help from associates is lacking. Brand managers and marketers will focus on product displays across different retail channels. They key in on how their products are being stocked, priced, and promoted to shoppers making sure everything is according to plan.

Data from Mobee’s Holiday Store Tracker Missions uncovered that:

Best Buy, Target, Kohl’s and Bed Bath & Beyond showed holiday preparedness with efficient check out processes in place. Seventy-five percent of visits across all four retailers reported 5 or less people waiting in line. Best Buy led the charge with most employees helping customersâ€" 13% of the store visits reported 21+ sales associates on the floor. Target closely followed behind with 12%. Out of stock was a major issue for one of the hottest gaming gifts this season, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. Thirty-seven percent of store visits at Best Buy and 27% at Target did not have the product on the shelf. Pricing was all over the map. For example SodaStream SOURCE Starter Kit ranged in price between $ 71.99 - $ 129.99 at Kohl’s and $ 49.99 - $ 103.99 at Bed Bath & Beyond.
