Goodwill Donate-a-thon Sets Goal to Fill 60 trucks; Create 1,000 Local Jobs
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) December 29, 2014
December 31st is the culmination of Goodwillâs busiest donation season of the year. Donors include Goodwill as part of their holiday tradition of givingâ"with the added bonus of collecting their end of year tax deduction. In gratitude, Goodwill is turning the donation experience into a thank you event that celebrates the generous donors who give to Goodwill.
âWeâre inviting donors to join the San Francisco Goodwill family for our annual Donate-a-thon party, and help us fill 60 trailer trucks with donated goods,â said Maureen Sedonean, President and CEO, Goodwill San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin counties. âLast year we placed more than 600 local people in jobs. With help from our loyal donors, we'll open more doorways to jobs for local people in need in 2015.â
During Donate-a-thon, Goodwillâs 1500 Mission Street donation drop turns into a donation sensation with live music, CheerSF cheerleading routines, bell hop service, free popcorn, a San Francisco Boys Chorus performance and treats for kids. The first 400 Goodwill donors at the Mission Street location on December 31st will win San Francisco Zoo or Century Cinema movie tickets when Goodwillâs Mission Street gates open at 7am*.
Gently used clothes, toys, jewelry, technology and household goods are the lifeblood of Goodwillâs almost 100 year old nonprofit social enterprise. These much needed donations fund Goodwillâs job programs that give local people a second chance and help at-risk families remain intact, moving from poverty toward self-reliance. Last year, more than 600 people got jobs in San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin counties with the help of Goodwill.
*Tickets distributed on a first come first served basis only at 1500 Mission Street beginning at 7am. To find all donation location hours, please check http://sfgoodwill.org.
