EDM Cellist Saum G Ventures Beyond in Latest Album "Water From Mars"
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) December 19, 2014
Saum G describes the sound of Water From Mars, his upcoming album, as modern with analog elements. âAll of the tracks on Water From Mars have influence from our current position in the timeline,â he says. Even the cover art conveys a juxtaposition of the present and the future of sound.
Water From Mars relentlessly commands attention, laying out an expansive landscape of sound. The album seamlessly blends hard-hitting technical beats with the smooth, warm sound of Saum Gâs cello and infectious vocals.
The haunting opener âRunning Through Youâ builds quickly, and steel drums add tropical flair. Itâs hard not to start moving as soon as the beat begins. The second track, âMelodies of Light,â keeps up the energy and expands lyrically. âSome have seen it all and more, so much trouble in the world, so letâs just bring some good to you.â
âFate and Fluxâ assures that weâll know what to do with the rolling groove. It gathers force at the midpoint, only letting go at the very end.           Â
Saum Gâs voice resonates in waves punctuated by glitchy clicks in âSound of Bright Matterâ and âEnter My Realm.â These tracks feel cinematic, the vocals almost ethereal over the beat.
Things pick back up on âBeauty That Lives.â This track perfectly accompanies a scenic drive, holding a positive edge ever-bubbling with hope. âItâs not the way we fly, itâs not the way we dieâ¦itâs how we keep our minds and how we make our nights,â sings Saum G.
âA View From Hollywood Hillsâ makes you anticipate the drop with a beautifully dark cello line. Featuring A.M.I.E., this track can coax the most hesitant dancers to move. âCloser to the Sun,â featuring Trinity, keeps the party going. Throbbing, heavy beats give way to a smooth harmony, eventually blending into âSky Creatures.â The penultimate track transports you to a distant, even otherworldly beach.
Saum G closes Water From Mars with the title track. The cello is most prominent here, offers the entire effortâs most overt mix of old and new. Itâs the powerful end to a powerful album.
