Alienware's new gaming console Alpha is featured on the Bizwaremagic.com site, which runs a handy online Laptop Computer Guide for its visitors and subscribers. As an added component of this guide, Bizwaremagic often compiles comprehensive reviews/summaries of new laptops, computers and gadgets of every description so that patrons can get a clearer picture of new computer devices coming onto the marketplace.

Lately, Alienware has been drawing much attention with the introduction of the Alpha console and its newly re-imagined ultra high definition (11520x2160) 4K Area-51 gaming desktop with the new triad design sporting Intel's 8-core i7 Extreme processors and up to 32 GB of 2133 DDR4 memory - supporting dual, triple or quad GPU configurations. Area-51 will begin shipping in October and the Alpha can now be pre-ordered online with delivery starting on Nov. 21st, 2014.

Alpha is Alienware's first entry into the "Game Console" market and will compete with Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlaySation 4 in the living room gaming arena. Alpha is mainly designed around/powered by Valve's Big-Picture Steam gaming system and will ship with an Xbox 360 controller with custom software, which Alienware claims will let gamers seamlessly navigate without a mouse or keyboard.

However, potential buyers should know Alpha is run via Windows 8.1 but is Steam OS & Steam gamepad "Ready" so owners can load them when they are released. Regardless, Alpha will currently give users quick and easy access to over 3000 games on Steam and all existing games within one's Steam account can be played on Alpha. This device can be used as a personal computer or as a gaming console.

Potential buyers will also have to realize Alpha will have four different price ranges: $ 549, $ 699, $ 799 and $ 899. While all models will have the custom-built Nvidia "Maxwell" GeForce GTX 2GB GDDR5 GPU or graphics card, which can't be upgraded, please note other components such as RAM, CPU can be upgraded depending on the space available. There is also a large difference in specs with the different prices. It ranges from 4th Generation Intel Core i3-4130T Dual-Core processor (3M Cache, 2.9GHz), 4GB Memory, Windows 8.1, 500GB SATA 6Gb/s hard drive in the $ 549 model up to the Intel Core i7-4765T Quad-Core processor (8M Cache, up to 3.0 GHz), 8GB Dual Channel DDR3L 1600MHz, Windows 8.1, 2TB SATA 6Gb/s hard drive in the $ 899 model.

Keep in mind, not all modern games, such as Call of Duty, will play smoothly on the lower-priced models in computer or desktop mode. In addition, it can't play Uplay or Origin games in console mode. However, suitable games can be played at 1080p High Definition via an HDMI connection with any compatible TV or monitor. Alpha will also ship with some bonus gaming content such as PAYDAY 2, Magicka and Gauntlet Helm.

Overall, the Alienware Alpha is a somewhat strange computer-console hybrid which will give users Steam's Big-Picture gaming in the living room setting. Prices may be higher than other game consoles, but keep in mind, this is a two-for-one deal since the Alpha can be used as a personal computer, so even the $ 900 price tag can be viewed as a bargain. Whether the Alpha can find takers in the crowded game console marketplace remains to be seen, but Alienware has everybody's full attention with this one.
