RepairLabs has broken down the specs given on the all-new PS4, and found out what it is that gives the Playstation 4 such a vast improvement in quality over the present king-of-the-hill, the PS3. They created an image illustrating the difference between the upcoming system and the current.

With 8GB's of super-speed GDDR5, the Playstation 4 is capable of producing 32 times the amount of data that the PS3 can produce with its' current 256MB of GDDR3, while running on an 8-bit wide data buffer that will allow for 20% more processing juice.

To make a comparison to what some consider to be the reigning king, Alienware's Aurora PC is only utilizing 4GB of GDDR5, half of what the Playstation 4 can boast. “The idea behind all of this power is to make the Playstation 4 the most powerful gaming system on the market for years to come -- hopefully being able to keep pace with the long run the PlayStation 3 has had, with a whopping 8 years on the market,” says Jason Draper, the RepairLabs resident Certified Mac Technician.

We should expect not only massive graphical improvements, but also better implementation and usage of 3D in gaming, something that is lacking with this generation of consoles, with the PS3 being no exception.
