Marietta, GA (PRWEB) December 05, 2012
Austin Craig published his book, "Snowy and Carroty" on July 30, 2012. On the date of publication Austin was 5 years and 55 days old. This beats the current record by 247 days. Alexander Craig published his book, "Amazon, Candy Corn, and the DS" just before his 7th birthday.

The project started out as something to fill the time in the evening usually devoted to homework during the summer. Each child set a daily word-count and total word-count goal. The next step was to brainstorm ideas to develop characters, settings, and plots. Once the brainstorming was done, they were ready to write. Alexander sat with pencil and paper, while Austin dictated to his dad. They worked on their books on average 30 minutes every other night for about two months. Alexander and Austin both exceeded their word-count goal, ending with over 1,100 words in their story.

It was a great learning experience for both. They learned about parts of a story, such as plots, main characters, supporting characters, villains, settings, and the plot roller coaster. They also learned about parts of a book, such as, title page, copyright page, dedication page (each child dedicated their book to their teachers), table of contents, and text. Finally, they learned about the publication process, to include, brainstorming, writing, editing, illustrating, and printing. Now they get to learn about the selling process.
