Best College Reviews, an independent editorial collegiate review organization, ranked Northern Arizona University the number one online college in the nation.

The latest research by the National Center for Education Statistics shows that about 25% of students in the United States took at lease one online class in the Fall of 2012, and over 12% were earning their entire degree online. Best College Reviews’ 25 Best Online Colleges list answers an important student need by offering a reliable, independent analysis of online colleges.

Best College Reviews evaluated more than 80 institutions that offer 10 or more online bachelor’s degrees. “This year, we surveyed over 400 institutions providing at least one bachelor’s degree fully online,” said Best College Reviews. “Because institutions only providing a limited range of online degrees aren’t what most students want when it comes to attending an online college, we then narrowed the field by looking at the 80+ institutions that provide ten or more degrees fully online.” NAU offers 45 online bachelor’s degrees and certificates.

Those 80 institutions were then evaluated on three distinct metrics that online students value most in a school: affordability, flexibility, and academic rigor and support.

“Northern Arizona University has been serving students wherever they live with quality college degree options for more than four decades,” said Fred Hurst, Senior Vice President of NAU’s Extended Campuses. “We’ve always prided ourselves on employing innovative delivery models to provide excellent, accessible education to each and every student. This number one ranking reflects that commitment.”

One of the most affordable programs in the Best College Reviews survey was NAU’s Personalized Learning degree programs. Students pay a flat rate of $ 2,500 for a six-month subscription that includes all courses and learning materials for the competency-based program.
