Tomb Raider Wins IGN People's Choice and Editor's Pick for "Game of Show" at E3 2012

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 11, 2012

Thousands of fans and editors of leading video games media outlet IGN have declared Tomb Raider “Game of Show” from the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).

Of the more than 10,000 fans who voted, Tomb Raider scored 30% of the vote to snag IGN’s first-ever People’s Choice Award. Coming in second and third place for People’s Choice were Sony’s cinematic new IP The Last of Us and hacker-espionage thriller Watch Dogs from publisher Ubisoft.

IGN editors agreed with fans’ “Game of Show” pick â€" according to IGN’s Editor-in-Chief, Casey Lynch, “Tomb Raider blew us away with its mix of action and tense presentation. It introduces a Lara we’ve never known and tells the story of how she became the greatest raider of tombs.”

Published by Square Enix and developed by Crystal Dynamics, the new installment of the popular Tomb Raider series launches March 5, 2013 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

“We thank IGN for giving us Best of Show. It’s a huge privilege. The team did a great job. They put the hard work in so it goes to the team,” said Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio, Crystal Dynamics, upon receiving the award at the close of the 2012 E3 Expo. “We’re glad to see Tomb Raider recognized, especially in the sea of amazing games here at the show. To be recognized by IGN as Game of the Show is a real highlight and we’re very, very proud to accept this.”

IGN editors also selected Ubisoft as the clear winner among the definitive press conferences held at E3 2012 â€" the first time ever they’ve given it to a third-party publisher. With Ubisoft’s strong presence and showcase of new titles â€" and muted showings from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo â€" IGN editors deviated from its decade-long tradition of picking a show winner from among the first-party publishers to crown Ubisoft the winner.
