Announcement: GuitarControl.com releases “Electric Guitar Lesson on Blues Finger Picking Technique”

(PRWEB) October 02, 2014

Claude teaches this lesson using the hybrid picking technique instead of just the fingers. “I don’t want to give up my pick”, says Johnson. Claude demonstrates an exercise for working on this technique that uses an alternating bass line of the 3rd fret of the 6th string with 3rd finger, played with the pick, to the open 4th string, played with fingers. Claude performs this using the palm muting technique and puts more emphasis on the 4th string making it louder than the 6th string. Claude incorporates a melody into the alternating bass notes based in the G Pentatonic Scale by playing the 3rd fret of the first string with 3rd finger, first fret with first finger, 3rd fret of the 2nd string with 3rd finger, first fret with first finger, open 2nd string and open 3rd string. Claude continues by playing a variety of variations on this idea and says that you should just try to improvise it. Guitar TAB ’s are available for this blues guitar lesson at GuitarControl.com.

Hybrid Picking is a technique where the guitarist uses a flat pick with the thumb and first finger and finger picks with the remaining fingers. Double Stops is the technique of playing two strings at the same time, usually done using the hybrid picking technique.

The Pentatonic Scale is a musical scale with five notes per octave. They can be found all over the world and are the main scale used in the Blues genre.
