Yamaha Corporation of America Welcomes Cross as District Manager for Midwest

Jay Cross

(PRWEB) October 21, 2014

Yamaha Corporation of America (YCA) today announced that Jay Cross has been appointed as the company’s Midwest district manager for the Keyboard Division, overseeing piano and keyboard sales throughout Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and western Missouri. Cross will report to Dan Rodowicz, western regional manager, Keyboard Division.

“Yamaha is always on a quest to find, recruit and hire the best talent available,” said Bob Heller, national sales director, Keyboard Division, Yamaha Corporation of America. “Jay Cross certainly exemplifies that goal as evidenced by his experience, success and stellar reputation in the industry.”

Cross, who will be based in the Kansas City area, is assuming the territory previously managed by longtime Yamaha district manager Tom Mapson, who retired this year.

“I intend to reinforce the core values and integrity that Tom Mapson established over a 30-year career with Yamaha in the territory,” said Cross, who will provide assistance and support to the authorized dealer network for Yamaha pianos, Disklaviers, and Clavinovas throughout the nation’s Midwest.

Cross has held several key roles in sales and marketing in the music industry, including executive management positions with Samick Music Corporation. As the company’s North American executive vice president and director of sales, Cross helped develop and implement successful marketing plans for new product lines, and was instrumental in developing the piano division’s first social media/e-commerce marketing plan, among other achievements. Cross also previously served as vice president/director of sales, director of marketing and district sales manager with Samick, marketing nine different product lines and managing a 12-state region in those posts dating back to 2004.

His sales management experience also includes successful stints with Young Chang of America, which was purchased by Samick in 2004, and Schmitt Music, where he earned several sales awards during six years with the company.

A music lover who plays the trumpet and piano, Cross holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration Management from Emporia State University. He and his wife Sara have three children.
