Protégé Game Studio Working with Charter School in Holland-Zeeland Area

Holland, MI (PRWEB) January 14, 2015

Protégé Game Studios is proud and excited to announce the opening of a second studio in the Holland-Zeeland area. Partnering with Innocademy and iCademy, this new video game development studio will be located inside the Homestead Charter School. Like its predecessor in Lowell, Michigan, this new space will encourage young people to learn the diverse and complex discipline of video game design and creation through hands-on instruction both in and out of the classroom.

Sandon Newton â€" a native of West Michigan â€" founded Protégé in 2013, which is also when he built the original studio. Newton wanted to provide a fun and challenging outlet for young people from 5th grade through college while simultaneously building a wide and diverse talent pool for job placement in the future. In fact, he has already hired two individuals who were once students at the Protégé studio in Lowell and plans to continue this practice of developing talent from within to assist the firm in the future. “We have seen our IP and talent portfolio grow significantly in the last year; with the opening of our second studio in Zeeland we are fulfilling an increased demand for our products,” says Newton.

According to Newton, Protégé is founded on a unique business model called ‘SiGHT’ (Seed-inspire-Grow-Harvest for Talent). “With our blended learning system of online and in-studio training our SiGHT model has been perfect for developing talent,” said Newton. Protégé focuses on developing top talent in disciplines of programming (JavaScript), 2D/3D graphics, animation, game design, sound engineering along with project management and business entrepreneurship acumen.

Protégé’s goal is to cultivate the ingenuity of young minds to keep the creative sphere fresh, fluid, and diverse, but aside from offering classes in coding and game design, they also create and design training materials and digital gaming courses for schools and other companies. Within the new studio, Protégé is working to develop state certified curriculum that will be a part of premium elective courses through iCademy and Innocademy charter schools. The idea is to encourage and foster creative passions by developing real-world skills that will serve the students well throughout their personal and professional lives.
